Daitoryo (President in Japanese) is a well-known Izakaya tavern located in the market area of Ameyoko that is close to Ueno. Daitoryo (also Daitouryou) is an emblematic place for Tokyo locals. It has the characteristics of the old post war izakayas that is usually crowded around the JR elevated tracks next to Ameyoko market. Daitoryo offers a simple izakaya food, the typical chicken skewers, fresh sashimi, etc. It also offers a good quality of food with a great value of money. More than the food ... , what you will experience here is the super authentic atmosphere. It is highly recommended to choose the seat next to the street on tables (sometimes shared) or the table at a long counter. It is the excellent spot to have a few drinks and quick simple dishes with your travel fellows. NOTE: Japan Gourmet Pass recommends this place for the atmosphere you can get on those type of venues.
