Shinme 神馬
Shinme is a well-known izakaya in Kyoto established in 1934, it retains the original decoration (Showa retro, famous emperor Hirohito era, 1928-1989) and through time a classic among izakaya restaurants. The speciality consists basically of seafood, super fresh as they select always the best seasonal fish on the market. They assure the seafood is served in the best conditions. Within the menu you can find as well whale meat, a controversial product for Westerners but attached to Japanese cultur ... e. Also remarkable special "house" sake (good to have it hot) made from a blend of selected sakes. Very good quality, excellent atmosphere. It is a bit far from the Kyoto centre, so it is better to book in advance if you don't want surprises.
