Tokuwo is a Japanese restaurant located next to the Kamo River and five minutes walk from Kawaramachi station in Kyoto. A small garden welcomes a wooden entrance in a pleasant atmosphere. Chef Shinji Tokuo prepares genuine kaiseki cuisine. The base of their cuisine is seasonal products from original recipes and traditional techniques. One of the specialities is the exclusive suppon soup made from soft-shelled turtles. Also the matsutake mushrooms shabu-shabu. The sashimi is classic, but absolute ... ly excellent. They use a charcoal grill to cook fishes such as sea bream, eel or the delicious "ayu". The service is Omakase style where the chef proposes the best dishes according to the seasonal ingredients. The lunch menu is composed of 8 dishes and a dessert. For dinner there are 9 dishes and a dessert. You can choose from two categories on the menu. The combination of flavors, textures and aromas is fantastic. NOTE: The restaurant requires reservation beforehand. Sometimes when they have enough time, they may translate the menu in English before you go to eat (not always).
