Tonkatsu Taro とんかつ太郎
As the restaurant name already indicates, at Taro, the specialty is Tonkatsu and the local Tarekatsudon, which was created early in Showa period. The classic tarekatsu-don consists of five pork cutlets perfectly deep-fried with homemade breadcrumbs. The final result is a tender, juicy, and crispy Tonkatsu on top of a bowl of rice. You can find dishes made this way in Niigata. For some foreigners, the terakatsu-don remembers them as the "schnitzel," but even though the visual aspect is similar, b ... oth dishes are totally different.
