Atsuta Houraiken Matsuzakaya あつた蓬莱軒 松坂屋店
Atsuta Houraiken eel was first opened in 1873 and they have preserved the flavor until today. They have four restaurants but we would like to introduce you to the one that is on the 10th floor of Matsuzakaya department store in Nagoya for your convenience when visiting this city. Years ago, they created the "hitsumabushi" bowl hancrafted by a local master, made of Japanese chestnut to serve the eel. The chefs' skills are not limited to cooking but also in choosing the highest quality of eel and ... then grill it using a very special charcoal under the name of "Binchotan". After grilling, the chefs add their secret recipe sauce used when they first opened and are gradually adding new fresh sauce making the taste as good as the original one (140 years ago). When you get your unagi meal, they will also give you instructions on how to eat in order to get the best experience of this unique meal. NOTE: After you order, they will start preparing your fresh meal where it usually takes around 30 minutes during weekdays and 60-90 minutes during weekends.
