Nodaiwa is one of the oldest eel "unagi" restaurants in Tokyo with more than 160 years in the industry. The atmosphere is very traditional with matrons dressed in traditional kimono. Normally, upon entering the restaurant, they will give you table on the tatami floor from where you can see the staff working in the kitchen. Mostly, the clients order a full-course meal either for lunch or dinner and the skills of the master Kanemoto (which is actually the fifth generation as an eel master) make th ... e difference. The unagi they serve has only been fished in the wild and never used any cultured eel from a farm, making the texture of the eel unique. Nodaiwa has been starred at the Michelin guide, and from Japan Gourmet Pass, we can assure you that, even appearing on the guide, their standards have been kept as always. NOTES: Weekends (not weekdays) are booked three (3) months in advance. Walk-in customers are only entertained if there are still free seats (but it is always better to reserve in advance). They accept reservations from a minimum of two customers. A group of 3 or more can use the private room. Additional 10% charges are required for wasabi. During lunch time, there's also a 10% additional service charge.
